William Murphy

1957 - 2017

William James “Murph” Murphy passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Penn-Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He was 60. He was a resident of Eagleville, PA and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Norristown, PA. Murph worked at the Montgomery Co. Fire Academy and formerly worked at Lankford Buick for over 25 years. He attended St. Francis of Assisi during grade school and graduated from Bishop Kenrick High School, Class of 1975. Murph enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, stargazing, fishing and playing softball. Born in Phoenixville, PA on June 25, 1957, he was the son of Margaret A. (Morris) Murphy of Norristown, PA and the late William J. Murphy, Jr. Surviving is his loving family including his wife, Amy B. (Luckenbill) Murphy; a son, William Jameson Murphy of W. Norriton, PA; a daughter, Megan Jo Murphy of Eagleville, PA; four siblings: David M. Murphy, Sr. of Pottstown, PA, Kathleen Spitko and her husband, Robert, of Audubon, PA, Dennis P. Murphy, Sr. and his fiancé, Carol Watson-Jowett, of Oaks, PA and Daniel J. Murphy, Sr. and his wife, Betty, of Pottstown, PA; many nephews and nieces; and his dog, Wallace. Relatives and friends are invited to Murph’s Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 600 Hamilton St., Norristown, PA on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be the Rev. James E. Goerner, Pastor. His viewings will be Wednesday evening from 6 to 8pm at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA; and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 am, at the church. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, E. Norriton, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Murph’s memory to the ARA Scholarship Fund.
