We were all close in age. But you always called us uncle and auntie. Nora still remembers the first time she met the family back in the early 80´s. You were the one person she knew there. Yes that smile and your laugh, unforgettable . Rest in peace my dear niece. We love you.

When we would run across each other, no matter how long it had been or how short in between it was like we wouldn´t miss a beat. We also reminisced about when we were younger and how our families were doing.

The first family member (along with Arei because you were with her that night) I met of Jason´s when we first got together. The bearer of the ring and advisor to Jason about asking me to marry him - "if it fits, it´s meant to be". My confidante during one of my toughest times, despite your own tough moments, still being an anchor to me and helping me to navigate. Being one of the catalysts to move us back home closer to family in Cali. I´m so grateful for the last 7 years we´ve had together, which seems entirely too short. I really never thought about you leaving us so soon. I thought we´d laugh together well into our 70s-80s. But this is a reminder to all, as we tend to forget in our flawed humanness, that tomorrow is never promised. DD would want us to live our lives in unity and in a drama-free manner. Everyone knew her as the glue, the bridge, whatever you think of as the thing that keeps it together. I love you, Sis-I´ll keep riding for you. Happy (what would be your 59th year on earth) birthday today

To Dee Dee´s Family,

My condolences to the family. I went to school with Dee Dee from 7th through 12th grade. The fun, laughter and her great smile I´ll never forget. Always helpful, I remember I asked if she wanted to come along with my Mom and I, she needed help for a job she had to get done in Winters, she right away said yes. That day was a lot of fun by the end of the day we were getting silly and laughing telling each other jokes. May she rest in peace.

I think back to the first time I met Dee Dee. Tiff had me come to her house to pick her up (she was living at Marians at the time) when I came in, she goes this is my cousin Dee Dee and then says wait here while I finish getting ready. Dee Dee at the time was pleasant but as you know she had a way of intimating you, looking back I think it was a set up lol. So, as I waited nervously, I decide to wander around and look at pictures on the walls and things in the house, somewhat avoiding conversation. What was only a couple of minutes seemed like an hour and I was ready to jet out of there as fast as I could. This interaction is not what I remember the most, it is what came after. Not long after Tiff told me that Dee Dee was not fond of me and was wondering if I was scoping out her house when I was looking around, she also said her cousin was a cop and they are running a background check on me!! WOW, I was like what is going on here lol ... I was offended by all this, but my goal was then to prove her wrong, looking back it was a great strategy she had it was going to scare me off or make me do right. This was one of the many ways Dee Dee would protect the people she loved she would do anything for Tiff and wanted to make sure no creep was trying to play her. What started out as me not liking Dee Dee for judging me grew to me loving her as family and understanding how much she only wanted the best for Tiff and by default our family. Thank you, Dee Dee, for the tough Love and, I promise I will always take care of Tiff for you. Love D.

DeeDee, growing up you and I were pretty much inseparable. Being so close in age you were not only my niece but my little sister. We played street football, baseball, hoops in the driveway. I have you to thank for getting me and Venissa together back in high school and 44 years later we have a wonderful marriage of 34 years. I will miss our conversations of talking about our days growing up and wondering what life will be as we grow old. Thank you for being you, keeping it real. I will miss your humor, your unmistakable laugh but most of all, YOU! May God rest your soul and welcome you into his paradise! Love you always

DeeDee was always kind and cheerful. Delightful, welcoming when we had family visits and periodic reunions in Alameda and Blue Rock Springs. Her smile brightened everything and everyone. May your soul DeeDee and all the faithful departed rest in peace and perpetual light shine on you.
