Deborah Moore Obituary

WILKES-BARRE — Deborah "Debbie" Orbik Moore, 69, a resident of Wilkes-Barre, entered into Eternal Life early Tuesday morning, Dec. 15, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Sept. 12, 1951, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of Ann (Stuchkus) Orbik, of Wilkes-Barre Township and the late Stanley Orbik.

She was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, Class of 1969.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in 1973, from Bloomsburg University. She began her teaching career in 1974. Until her retirement, she was employed by Wilkes-Barre Area School District for 35 years. During her many years of elementary school teaching, Debbie touched countless children's lives for the better and was always a strong child advocate. She was always happy to see her former students and spend time catching up on their lives and reminding them about their time in the classroom.

After her retirement from the classroom, Debbie kept active with her teaching colleagues and great friends. She forwarded her interests with friends and family through travel, trips to the casino, gardening and luncheons. She had an artistic and creative gift she shared with many and a special way of remembering special events for loved ones.

Debbie was an active and supportive member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Wilkes-Barre, having previously been a member of the former Holy Trinity Lithuanian Parish, prior to its closure.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Orbik and her niece and Godchild, Melissa Orbik.

Debbie is survived by her mother, Ann Orbik, brothers, Stanley Orbik, wife, Donna, of Navarre, Fla., Peter Orbik, wife, Lynda, of Papillion, Neb., Joseph Orbik, wife, Mary Lou, of Pringle, nieces, Kelly and Holly, nephew, Aaron, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins and many dear friends.

Funeral services for Debbie are limited to family and close friends due to the current pandemic. Please join family and friends in praying for Debbie's peace and joy as she rests now fully with God. May we continue to give God thanks for her faithfulness and example of love for family, friends and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, Debbie requests memorial donations to: Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
