MOUNTAIN TOP — Karin E. Thomas, 72, of Mountain Top, entered into Eternal Rest on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, in the Smith Health Care Ltd., Mountain Top. Her husband of 51 years is John P. Thomas.
Karin was born July 18, 1943, in Dinkelsbuhl, Bavaria. She was a daughter of the late John and Maria Carolina Fischer Roskoski. Karin was a graduate of Lake-Lehman High School and the Wilkes-Barre Business College. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Mountain Top.
Karin was a soprano singer, being involved with the Wyoming Valley Oratorio Society; St. Jude choir for 40 years, and was a cantor for St. Jude Church. Karin was an avid reader as well as a cyclist. She was a gourmet cook and excellent baker, known for her apple pie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Roskoski.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her children: John and Kelly Thomas, Mountain Top, David Thomas, Wilkes-Barre, Dian Thomas and Stephen Booth, Drums, Paul and Missy Thomas, Mountain Top; her grandchildren: Josie Thomas, Sarah Thomas, Emily Thomas, Christina Thomas and Paul Thomas Jr.; her sisters: Shirley Gingo, Dallas, and Erica Keiper, Nanticoke; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 9:15 a.m. Thursday from the Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, 136 Maffett St., Plains Township, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jude Catholic Church, Mountain Top, with the Rev. Joseph Evanko as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Family and friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church Building Fund, 420 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, PA. 18707.
