John David Cheslock
67, of Mineral City, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013 following an accident at his home. A son of Wanda Mae (Strawn) Cheslock of Mineral City and the late John Andrew Cheslock, John was born April 7, 1946 at Dover, Ohio. John graduated from Tuscarawas Valley High School in 1964. He was then drafted into the United States Army and honorably served his county during the Vietnam War. He was an electrician by trade and was a member of IBEW Local #540 of Massillon. He was an avid outdoorsman who simply loved nature. John was also very proud of his family farm which has been passed down through many generations. He enjoyed spending time with his family and he also took great pride in caring for his mother during her illness over the past 20 years.
In addition to his mother he is survived by two daughters, Anne (Paul Jr.) Dunn of Somerdale, Ohio and Christie (Mark) Snyder of Canton, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Cody and Brittany Thompson and Emmylou Dunn. John was preceded in death by his father and a special aunt and uncle, Helen and Dale Ewing.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating John's life will follow on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Ray Garver officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in New Cumberland Cemetery. Following the committal service a luncheon will be held in the Hospitality Room in the Geib Funeral Center.
