Anthony Carrk Obituary

Carrk, Anthony M. Sr. RAVENA Anthony M. Carrk Sr., 60, died peacefully Wednesday, October 17, 2018, in his home surrounded by family and friends, who loved him so. Tony's life embodied the values he held dear, family, faith, and community. Even in his sickest days he wanted to go and do for others. His love inspired all who knew him. His generous spirit made us all want to be better people; and his grit showed us all how to deal with life's challenges with grace and hope. He lived those values to the very end in his battle with cancer. Tony was born and raised in Ravena, to the late Frank and Nancy Carrk on September 11, 1958. His parents instilled those core values that he passed down to the future generations. For the last 40 years, Tony made his journey with his beloved wife Ann by his side. The bond they formed as teenagers only deepened with time. Their whole was greater than the sum of their parts. Together they raised a family and built a home open to anyone who walked through the door. Tony enjoyed sitting by the campfire, swimming in Lake George and the ocean, and rooting for his alma mater, RCS, and the New York Jets and Mets. Tony left an imprint on the countless lives he touched at Powell and Minnock Brick, RCS School District, the New York State Thruway, and Albany City Schools. Tony is survived by his wife, Ann Borowiec Carrk. His children, who he lived his life for, "TJ" Tony and Lizzy Carrk, Mandy and Jim Latter, and CJ Borowiec. Six grandchildren that lit up his life, Joey Latter, Trey Latter, Anthony Latter, Celia Carrk, Diego Carrk, and Taylor Latter. His loving siblings, Barbara (George) Williams, Tom Carrk, Frank (Bernie) Carrk, Susie (Dan) VanSlyke, Christopher Borowiec and Charlie Brooks. He also has many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and treasures that will miss his youthful presence. The family would like to thank all the dedicated medical professionals who helped Tony battle cancer for the past 18 years, particularly the doctors and nurses at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and New York Oncology and Hematology. A celebration of Tony's life will be held with a Mass on Saturday, October 27, at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 21 Main St., Ravena. Calling hours will be Friday, October 26, at Babcock Funeral Home, 19 Pulver Ave, Ravena, from 3 - 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Tony's name to St. Patrick's Church in Ravena, where he was a faithful communicant.

I'm so sorry for your family's loss. I was saddened when I heard the news of Mr. Carrk's passing. I graduated from Albany High in the spring, so I was fortunate to be able to see him every day for four years. I would always go through his security line in the morning. In a school of over 2,000 kids, he managed to make everyone feel special. I would always have my backpack stuffed to the max, so he and some of the other security guards would refer to me as Suitcase. Every morning when he'd see me in his line, he'd say Here comes Suitcase. Not only did it make me feel special, but it was such a great way to start the day. He made security fun. He will be greatly missed.
