Frank O'Connor Obituary

O'Connor, Frank C. Jr. SCOTIA Frank C. O'Connor, Jr., 83, spouse of Marian A. Wemple, died peacefully with his loving family present on December 11, 2013 at Ellis Hospital. Born April 1, 1930 in Albany to Frank C. O'Connor Sr. and Essie (Kearney) O'Connor, Frank graduated from St. Joseph's School, Albany and from Christian Brother's Academy in the class of 1948. Following graduation he attended Siena College and then graduated from Renouard College of Embalming in NYC. He was a licensed funeral director and operated the O'Connor Funeral Home in Albany with his father Frank Sr. for many years. He also worked for NY Central Railroad and was superintendent at Park View Cemetery Association, Schenectady. He and Marian were married on September 23, 1950 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. He is survived by six children and their spouses, Kathleen M. Ryan (Frank), Deborah Ann Marino (Robert), Frank C. O'Connor III (Carol Kirk), Judith M. Dixon (James), Thomas J. O'Connor (Kimberly Usas) and Joseph P. O'Connor (Margaret Janeski). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Jane Cioffi and Sally Horan. Frank enjoyed participating in family events and community activities. He was a former president of the Schenectady Lions Club, a former Eucharistic Minister at St. John the Baptist Church, Schenectady and coach for Westland Hills Little League. Frank enjoyed golf and bowling and being a lifelong member of the BPOE (Elks Lodge 2480). He was also an enthusiastic fan of the New York Yankees and University of Notre Dame athletic teams. He was communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Scotia. Above all he loved his family and spending time with them. The family would like to express gratitude and thanks to the doctors, nursing staff and pastoral care team at Ellis Hospital for their wonderful care and kindness. Viewing hours at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 2nd St., Scotia will be on December 14, 2013 from 9 to 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following at St. Joseph's at 10 a.m. Burial will occur at Park Cemetery, Scotia in the Spring. Memorial contributions may be made in Frank's name to St. Joseph's Church, Scotia, The Lions Club and Albany Twilight Baseball League.
