Frederick M. Sano Sr.

Sano, Frederick M. Sr. ALBANY Frederick M. Sano Sr., 88, of Albany, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015. Fred was born in Copake, but lived in Albany most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving three medals, and after the war was employed in the insulation industry and by the Watervliet Arsenal. He then began a career in sales for Kayser/Nekka Beauty Supply where he was employed for many years. Fred was a member of the Polish American Citizens Club. He enjoyed bowling for many years in the City Bowling League and a senior citizens league. He also was a fan of western movies and books. Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan Schoenecker Sano; and his daughter, Gabrielle Sano. He is survived by his children, Frederick Sano Jr. of Albany, Lynn Lowrey of Missouri, Barbara Sano-Lassonde of Albany, and Dawn Olsen (Scott) of East Berne; his grandchildren, Nicole Sano, Tara Boyer (Ted), Aaron Lowrey (Shannon), Nathan Lowrey, Adrieene Lowrey, Joseph Lassonde Jr., Peyton Olsen, and Taylor Olsen; and by several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and close friends. The family would like to thank Patty and Ann for their love and support during this time. They would also like to thank Sindu Balan from Hospice for her love, support, and kindness to our father "The Adopted One!" A sincere special thanks to Wilmont "Monte" Kennelly from Interim for his friendship, humor and love that he gave our father for five years. You know your nickname he had for you. Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Monday morning at 8:15 a.m., and from there to All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3-6 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
