Helen C. Rasmussen

Rasmussen, Helen C. BRUNSWICK Helen C. Rasmussen, 87, formerly of Speigletown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 surrounded by and in the loving comfort and care of her family at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Born in Rensselaer, she was the daughter of the late Raymond J. and Anna Brennan Steede and was the former wife of the late John P. Rasmussen Jr. Raised in Delmar, she was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School and Albany Business College. Helen retired after 28 years from the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services as the confidential secretary for commissioners John R. Beaudoin, William P. Wade and Allan Dixon. Helen was proud of her Irish heritage and was a member of the North Albany American Legion Post #1610 Ladies Auxiliary and the North Albany Limerick Association. She was a communicant of Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. Bonaventure's Church) in Speigletown and St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh. Helen is the beloved mother of Eileen H. (Charles W.) Duncan of Speigletown; cherished and devoted grandmother of David P. (Kelly) Connell Jr. of Brunswick; and the adored great-grandmother of David P. Connell III and Christopher G. Connell. She is also survived by a nephew and several nieces. Helen was pre-deceased by her brother, Raymond J. Steede Sr.; a sister, Ruth Hehre and her niece, Sandra A. Campbell. Funeral will be held on Monday at 8:45 a.m. from the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street) in Lansingburgh, thence to St. Augustine's Church, Lansingburgh, where at 9:30 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Interment will be held in St. John's Cemetery in Lansingburgh.
