Henrietta Schechter Obituary

Schechter, Henrietta ALBANY Henrietta Sutin Schechter, age 93, of Albany, died on Friday morning, October 26, 2012 at the Hudson Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Albany. Born in Albany, Mrs. Schechter was a lifelong resident. She and her late husband, Sam, were the owners and operators of the former Lodge's Liquor Store in downtown Albany for many years. She was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth and the Independent Benevolent Society in Albany. Henrietta was married to Samuel Schechter until his passing in 1988. Mother of Marty Schechter (Marjorie) of Colonie, Lawrence (Linda) Schechter of Loudonville, and Howard (Dale) Schechter also of Loudonville. Grandmother of Lauren, Samantha, Brian, Andrew, Tracy, Robyn and Heather Schechter. Great-grandmother of Jesse Perin. She also leaves several nephews. Mrs. Schechter was predeceased by a brother, Dr. Jerome Sutin and a sister, Lillian Perlman. Services at the Independent Benevolent Cemetery, Fuller Road in Guilderland on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 11 a.m. The period of mourning will be held at the home of Lawrence and Linda Schechter, 7 Campus View Drive in Loudonville on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Those wishing to remember Henrietta in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 or a charity of your choice. The Schechter family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to the hospice staff at the Albany Memorial Hospital, as well as the staff of the third floor for kindnesses shown to our family during Henrietta's stay.
