Herman Anderson Obituary
Herman Anderson, 91, passed peacefully Monday, February 6, 2023. Born to the late Fair Otis and Eria (Esmond) Anderson, July 29, 1931, Herman graduated Libbey High School, Class of 1949. He joined the U.S. Air Force for 3 years, receiving an honorable discharge in 1952, subsequently earning a Bachelor's degree from University of Toledo. Herman married Lillie Pearl Booker (50 years) and was employed by the Federal Government in Warren, Michigan, as a systems analyst until retirement, including stints in France, Germany and Switzerland. Herman was an active lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Known for his dry wit and slow-asmolasses demeanor, Herman was an avid lifelong bowler, winning many trophies over the years. He was a member of St. Paul AME Zion Church and a past trustee. Herman was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, William and James; and a sister, Louise Crawford. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Anderson; son, Derrick Anderson (Jim Laspesa); sister, Dorothy Farmer; sisters-in-law, Annie R. Powel and Retha Mae Reed; brother-in-law, Robert; Goddaughter, Constance Dixon; special niece, Regina Beene; and nephew, Zackary Powell. Visitation - Friday, February 10th, 2023, 7pm-9pm at The House of Day Funeral Home, 2550 Nebraska Ave. Funeral Service Saturday, February 11th, 11am (viewing 10am-11am) at The House of Day.

My Uncle Herman was the best! He and mama were just like brother and sister, and I could always go to him if I needed financial or practical advice.
He always listened without judgement or surprise.
There will be an empty space in my heart, now that he is gone <3

Mr. Anderson was so much like family to me. Derrick and I grew up great friends through our teens and I always felt welcome when I spent time at his house. I was always treated well and even after we both moved on and away any time I came home was sure to include a visit to what I will always consider my second family. I am grateful and blessed to have had a chance to know and spend time with all the Andersons and even the extended family.
Why wife, Suzanne, and I send our deepest condolences and prayers to all the family and friends that loved and cared for Mr. Anderson. He was always a great man, friend and mentor!
Thank you Mr. Anderson for a lifetime of friendship and memories! You will be missed but always remembered!
