ROTTERDAM - James J. Partington, III, 69 of Rotterdam, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024 after a long illness.
Born in St. Clare's Hospital, in Schenectady, on May 31, 1954, he was the son of the late James Frances (Pochkar) Partington, Jr. James graduated from Schalmont High School in 1972 where he played football and wrestling. He went on to college at SUNY Oneonta, where he majored in Business and earned a Bachelors Degree. Jim served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard, and volunteered for the N.Y.S. Naval Militia. He had many jobs, including banking and selling cars. Later, he worked at the N.Y.S. D.M.V., and the Office of Emergency Management. He loved people, and was a member of the Elks. Jim was a communicant at St. John the Evangelist Church, and sang in the choir.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Frances Partington; and his sister, Susan Partington. Survivors include his brother, Daniel (Patricia) Partington; and his sister, Janet (John) Jaster. He is also survived by two nieces, five nephews, two grandnieces, and two grandnephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11 a.m., in St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union St., Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with his family on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 4-7 p.m., in the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam.
