Joseph Lemner Obituary

Lemner, Joseph F. Sr. POESTENKILL Joseph F. Lemner Sr., 95, of Poestenkill, passed into eternal life on Wednesday morning, November 11, 2009, at Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Joe had been residing with his daughter and caregiver, Mary Grace Bulson and David Shields at their residence in Brunswick for the past 13 years. Joe was born in Troy and was the son of the late Joseph and Sophia Lemner and husband of the late Stasia Grygatis Lemner. Joe graduated from Troy High School and Albany Business College. Joe had worked at Bumstead Chevrolet in Troy as a salesman and retired from the Wilson Meat Packing Co., where he worked for over 47 years. He was a former member of Holy Trinity Church in Troy. In his younger days, he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. Joe was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed spending time at a camp in the Adirondacks that he and his family built. He was always known by family and friends alike, as a handyman who had a very jovial personality. He enjoyed cutting and splitting wood. Joe is survived by children, Joseph F. (Deanna) Lemner Jr. of Rotterdam, Thomas J. Lemner of Poestenkill, Dennis J. Lemner (Ruth Petell) of New Lebanon, Robert S. (Debroah) Lemner of Brunswick, Mary Grace Bulson (David Shields) of Brunswick and Kenneth (Jeanne) Lemner of Ferrisburg, Vt. Joe was also predeceased by his son, Jack Lemner who passed away July 5, 2009. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Joe was the brother of the late Antoinette Jane Lemner, Mary Grace Lemner, Helen Conway, Rose Rasczkowski and Frank Lemner. The funeral for Joe will be held on Saturday morning at 8:45 from the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third St. and at 9:30 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church, 3rd Street in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4-7 p.m. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery. Contributions in Joe's memory may be made to Our Lady of Hope Residence in Latham.
