ALBANY - Joseph S. Panella, 87, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at The Grand at Guilderland.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Joseph and Marie Panella. Joe graduated from CBA and then spent four years serving his country in the US Navy. He was a proud member of Ironworkers Local 12 of Albany, where Joe was a Rods Foreman on many projects in the Capital Region. Many people knew him as Martini Joe. Along with his beloved wife, Adele, family, and friends, Joe enjoyed frequent trips to Atlantic City. In his later years, he enjoyed watching old movies, and reading.
Joe was the beloved husband of the late Adele Collins Panella. He is the devoted father of Dena (Kevin) Hazzard and Michael Panella (Gigi Chrysogelos). He is also survived by several cherished brother-and-sister-in-laws; nieces; and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services at Saratoga National VA Cemetery on Thursday, August 22, at 1:00 p.m., where Joe and Adele's ashes will be entombed together for eternity. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org
