Oscar L. Lewis

Lewis, Oscar L. EAST GREENBUSH Oscar L. Lewis, 47, passed peacefully into eternal rest on April 1, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Oscar was born in Albany, and lived most of his life in the Capital Region. He worked hard all his life, mainly in the construction trades of plastering and masonry. He was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #2 and was employed by Phelps Brothers Roofing and Sanzo Construction Corp before starting his own business, Lewis Construction Company. Oscar was a generous man who always did for others before doing for himself; taking care of family was his top priority. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting above all else. Oscar is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 24 years, Lisa (Gowie) Lewis; daughters, Tessa and Bethany Lewis; parents, Kenneth Sr. and Saundra Lewis; and siblings, Kenneth Jr. and Saundra ("Sam") Lewis, along with a large extended family. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all who really knew him. The family extends great thanks to all the medical professionals who helped Oscar prior to his departure. Family and friends are invited to say goodbye to Oscar on Wednesday, April 5, at the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpke., Rensselaer. Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m., to be followed by a brief service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy.
