Paul Gallagher Obituary

Gallagher, Paul J.
ALBANY - It is with great sadness that we announce Paul's passing on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, while in the care of dedicated staff at Riverside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Castleton-on-Hudson. Paul's last days were made comfortable by pain relief and care by staff.
Paul was born on November 29, 1949, in County Tipperary, Ireland. He was predeceased by his parents, Nellie and Daniel Gallagher, and his closest lifelong dear friend, Father Jack Niland, a Capuchin priest.
Paul was raised in Parkchester in the Bronx. He moved to Albany to the St. Vincent's Apartments' Diocesan housing seven years ago after medical issues partially impaired his movements. He attended St. Raymond's grammar school, Mount St. Michael High School, and graduated from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.
Paul was a deeply devout Catholic with prayer and Mass being a core of his faith. His faith was an inspiration to those who knew him.
Paul had so many friends from Parkchester where he grew up, and these dear friends have generously helped Paul through his final few months. Paul was assisted through his final days by a dear friend, Barbara S., a talented, devoted social worker and Paul's friend. Paul is now united with his family and friends in the helping hands of The Blessed Mother.
