I remember the first time I met Alvin in the Andrews living room. He had an aire about him that reflected kindness and gentleness. You could tell he was a very special gentleman.

Dr. Andrews was a distinguished and very eloquent gentleman, who undoubtedly touched and enriched many lives. He brightened any room he entered. We were fortunate to know him, if only for a short time and we will miss his wonderful smile.

May it comfort you to know that thoughts and prayers are there for your family. The circle of life can be the hardest for those of us still here but our loved one is surrounded with love in heaven.

My Uncle Alvin was a very special man to me. He personified an enduring strength, compassion and love for others of which I have never seen matched. He will continue to be an excellent example to me of someone who kept the faith through all the inadequacies of life. I never saw him give up, nor grow weary in well doing. The devil could not extinguish the everlasting fire which grew in your spirit. Uncle Alvin, definitely no weapon formed against you prospered. I pray that God grant you peace forever after, although for the life you lived, I say well done. I am my mother love you dearly.

Reverend Alvin E. Andrews, our brother (-in-law) will be sorely missed by the many family and friends who loved him. He was a king, gentle, and loving man of God. We can hear him now saying “The Lord be praised!" and "This is good eating” which were his favorite cliches. When he was able to attend church at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, he would sometimes be called on to do the benediction, which he enjoyed. Even in ill health, Alvin continued to thank God for his many blessings. Our family is grateful to Lillian and Glenda Robinson, who visited him daily at the nursing home. We are also grateful for the kindness shown to us during this most difficult time. We know that Alvin is in heaven and that he is at peace.
Lovingly,
Mr. & Mrs. T’Milton Andrews
