Lemuel Gleaton Obituary

GLEATON Lemuel Lee Gleaton Sr., age 82, a New York City Manufacturing Machinist, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 19, 1926, in the town of Neeses, South Carolina to the late Percell and Ivory Whitmore Gleaton. Lemuel served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, during World War II. He was united in marriage for sixty one years to Jennie T. Gleaton in Columbia, South Carolina. He was also survived by his daughter and two sons, Cynthia Keys (Bobby), Lemuel Gleaton Jr. (Bernice) and William T. Gleaton; nine grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. Funeral service for Lemuel will be held at Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Stephens A.M.E. Church, 913 W. 5th Street., Rev. Michael Mitchell, Pastor. Visitation of friends at the mortuary on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and in the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery. It saddens me to hear about the passing of this great man. For what all has been said about him, truly he was a model for men to follow. To Princess and Mrs. Gleaton, remember to be absent of the body is to be present with the Lord, and the Word of God tells us that Blessed are they that mourne, for they shall be comforted. There are no wounds that He cant heal and there is no pain that He cant relieve. Lean on Jesus, and he'll make eveything alright. God Bless you and you all are in my prayers
