Robert Hubbard Obituary

HUBBARD Robert Pierce Hubbard Bob (retired attorney and accountant) aged 75, died January 12, 2015. Bob grew up on the Southside of Jacksonville, attending Assumption Catholic School and Landon High School. The fourth of five sons, he threw a paper route for the Times-Union for many years. As a student at Jacksonville University, he rowed crew on the St. Johns River and was active in student government. After graduating from Vanderbilt Law School, Bob began his life s work at Arthur Anderson Accounting Firm. He loved all things Atlanta volunteering as board member for the Arts Festival of Atlanta, drinking Dr. Peppers, walking his dog Percy in Piedmont Park, and reveling in the Atlanta Olympics, 1996. Upon retirement in 2002, Bob began a dual residence between Atlanta and Jacksonville Beach. For 13 years he walked and biked on the beach and shared dinners and family celebrations with brother Tom and sister-in-law Joan. Predeceased by his parents, Dorothy Ford Hubbard and Fire Chief JJ Hubbard; his brothers Ned Hubbard of Jacksonville and Dr. Bill Hubbard of Tennessee; he is survived by his brother Tom Hubbard and wife Joan of Jacksonville Beach, brother Patrick Hubbard and wife Judy of Columbia, SC; sisters-in-law and beloved nephews, nieces and their families. Extended family knew him as a generous giver of gifts and an authority on wives and child rearing, even though he never married or had his own children. He was much loved and will be deeply missed. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Funeral home(904)249-2374 located 1701 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville FL 32250. April 10, 2015

I just heard about Bob. I worked with him at Arthur Andersen, primarily helping him prepare for the Arts Festival. I always enjoyed his dog stories, especially the one when Percy needed to wear a mask when Bob got his tonsils removed. He was a delightful man.

Dear Hubbard family, I just heard that Bob passed away. Bob was a neighbor, colleague and customer. Bob, (or Mr. Hubbard as I called him) was a nice man. He kept me on my toes and was kind to me. I am so sorry for your loss.
