Richard C. Andreas

Richard C. Andreas, 94, of West Princeton Avenue, Palmerton, died peacefully early Monday afternoon, May 6, 2024, in his home. He was the husband of Jovonne R. (Wertman) Andreas.

Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Oliver C. and Hattie M. (Mertz) Andreas.

Richard was employed as a machine operator by the Mack Trucks Corp., Allentown, for over 34 years, retiring in 1987. Later, he worked security for the Palmerton Police Department at the former Palmerton Hospital and local sporting events.

Richard served in the 2nd Army, Korea, QM Co., achieving the rank of PFC. He was a life member and past commander of the VFW Post 7134, Palmerton, a life member of the Palmerton Ambulance Corps, and a former member of the No. 2 West End Volunteer Fire Company, Palmerton, and the former Palmerton Fire Police.

An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys football and New York Yankees baseball.

Surviving in addition to his widow are daughters, Linda J. Andreas of Allentown, Mary L. Eschbach of Bowmanstown and Kelly L. Terruta of Kunkletown; goddaughter, Thressa Connolly; four grandchildren, Chad, Kristin, Chaise and Takoda; six great-grandchildren; three godsons, Sal Jr., Chris and Carl Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by a stepson, Raymond Hartranft; a grandson, Terry Lee Jr., who died in 2004; sisters, Florence Borbe, Thelma Bonser and Romaine Schleicher; and brothers, Ronald, Miles, Carl, Hampton and Wayne.

Service: Funeral service with military honors 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. Call 50-6:30 p.m. Thursday.
