Betty Thomas Obituary

THOMAS, Betty Jean (Age 79) Of Spokane, WA, passed away on December 3, 2009 inSpokane. She was born June 18, 1930 in Irricana, Alberta, Canada, the fourth of six girls born to Modest and Marian Long. Betty attended school in Canada and nursing school at Sacred Heart Hospital. In 1952, she married Victor G. Thomas in SantaBarbara, CA. Betty worked as Head Nurse of ICU at Sacred Heart Hospital. She and Vic retired to Hawaii in 1980, where Betty worked at Life Care Center in Hilo. Upon her return to Spokane, Betty worked for WDS at the NorthSpokane Costco. Betty was preceded in death by Victor, her husband of 34 years. She is survived by her four children, Vicki Faughender, Sally (Bob) Hall, Neil (Pam) Thomas and Terri (Dave) Ayres; three sisters, Lou Chambers,Maxine Gelberg, and Jo Altergott; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, N 4305 DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA 99207. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hopital for Children, POB 2472, Spokane, WA 99210-2472. Guest book @ www.riplinger.com.

I am a student at Whitworth and became Betty's neighbor earlier this fall. Unfortunately I only had a couple interactions with her, but each time she was so warm and welcoming and changed my day for the better. I hope that those who survive her are doing ok. Blessings.
