George Stuller Obituary

George J. Stuller

George J. Stuller, 74, of Curtice, Ohio passed away on December 24, 2020 in Florida. George was born to George and Agnes (Toth) Stuller on July 8, 1946. He was a member of the Clay High School class of 1964.

He became an apprentice/member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 50 Toledo and was a member for 54 years. He competed and placed in state and national pipefitting and welding competitions. He taught for years at the Local 50 Apprenticeship School and later became a judge at the National UA Apprentice Competition. He graduated from the University of Toledo in 1980 with a technical degree in Mechanical Engineering.

George, along with two partners, purchased a mechanical contracting business in Toledo in the 80s. He then worked for many local contractors until his retirement. After retirement, George had his own consulting business. He consulted with many contractors throughout the US, advising contractors on fab shop set up for greater profitability. He gave lectures for the Mechanical Contractors Association of America and the Pipe Fabrication Institute. He was a member of the Pipe Fabrication Institute for 20 years where he served as chairman and labor committee chairman. He was considered an expert in his field and authored the manual Pre-Fabrication Operations Guide for Plumbing. He served on the school board of Cardinal Stritch High School and was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic church and served on parish council.

He was an avid athlete. He enjoyed playing golf with his lifelong friends, Danny Miller and Chuck Tracy. His passion, however, was softball. He played softball for several years in a league in Curtice, Ohio while in his 20s and 30s. When George was turning 50, he returned to the game joining a senior softball league. He was a member of the East Toledo Family Center softball league for 20 years and served on their board. He voluntarily cut the grass on the ballfields in Toledo, transporting his personal lawn equipment to do the job. He was also a member of the Bradenton Mens Senior Softball league for 10 years where he played 4 games a week. He played in several Senior Olympics. He continued to play softball despite having double knee replacement surgery.

He and Chuck Tracy started the 5th and 6th grade football program for Genoa area children, originally playing in the Oregon Recreation League. He coached his children in Little League baseball and Pee Wee football for 8 years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Suzanne; and children, GJ (Annette) Stuller, Dawn Bryant, Jeff Stuller, and Todd (Vivian) Stuller; 11 grandchildren whom he loved unconditionally; and his siblings, Jeanette Bickle, Georgeanne "Georgia" Vail, Margaret Stuller, and Donald (Mary) Stuller; and is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Oak Shade Grove, 3624 Seaman Rd, Oregon, OH. Funeral mass will be Monday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Church, 212 N Stadium Rd, Oregon, OH. Private burial will follow mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Genoa Area Local Schools Scholarship Foundation, Inc. in George's name.

Sue and Family, we are saddened for your loss. I had a lot of fun playing ball and coaching our boys with George. I also had plenty of times to talk with him throughout our construction careers. He was a good friend and very knowledgeable. I for one will miss not meeting up with him and reminiscing. Sue, you and your family remain in our prayers.

George and I met each other in the 1st grade and remained friends even though our lives took different paths at times. Our kids attended St. Ignatius and I helped with some of the festivals with him. I golfed with his friend Chuck Tracy on the Ohio Bell golf league so I know he and George will be teeing it up in heaven. I miss another classmate .

So sorry to hear of George's passing. We were neighbors of his on Stadium Road and grew up together. George, myself and my brother Doug had good times together. Snowball forts and snowball fights and king on the hill were a few of the games played. His sisters would come over too. We have fond memories of the many years we shared.

My sincere condolences to George's entire extended family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I'm certainly going to miss George, especially in August when I would see him every year at the annual "Pull Tab" golf outing, organized by Paul McNichol. George was a good man. I really enjoyed his company at the Pull Tab, where I met George many, many years ago. I know that I, and many other are better people for having known George. Rest in peace my friend.

George was instrumental in helping us order plumbing supplies and installing the plumbing at our home. We have many fond memories of George throughout the years from the generous help at our house and softball at the East Toledo Senior Center. Our condolences to Sue and the family. I played softball with George in Curtice and he showed me a Rocky Colavito move during practice catching fly balls in the outfield by bending over and catching the ball behind his back! Great guy, will be sorely missed. Gerry Wasserman

He was one of the most knowledgeable men I have ever had the honor of knowing. Loving father and a friend to many. At many wrestling tournaments I can remembering his consoling me on my loss(which was often...lol) and telling me to stick with it and don't give up eventually I would get better. Well that never happened...lol. but I carried those words to the next match and kept trying. Ganna miss you sir RIH.
