Joseph Cooke Obituary

COOKE Mr. Joseph Jr. Aug. 14, 1948-Nov. 12, 2006 Mr. Joseph Cooke Jr. was born August 14, 1948, in Fairmont, West Virginia, the son of Mr. Joseph Cooke Sr. and Mrs. Norma Harris Cooke. As a child growing up, he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. From 1963-1966 he attended Libbey High School where he played and starred on the basketball team. He went on to play college basketball for the University of Indiana. He left the university to play pro basketball for the then new franchise, Cleveland Cavaliers. He played for 2 years and left due to knee injuries. Mr. Joseph Cooke Jr. passed away Sunday, November 12, 2006, at the age of 58. He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Harris Cooke and grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Harris, both of Flint, MI. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mrs. Suzzane St. Onge Cooke of Dallas, TX; son, Joseph Cooke III of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Sherida Diane Cooke of Indianapolis, IN and Jovonda Cooke of Grand Rapids, MI; step children, Deborah M. Haggard and Michelle L. Haggard Penkoski, both of Tampa, FL; 12 grandchildren; father and wife, Joseph Cooke Sr. and Crittie Cooke of Toledo, OH; brother, Kevin Cooke of Flint, MI; sisters, Sharon D. Parker of Toledo, OH and Deborah L. McClendon of Flint, MI; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Louis of Tucson, AZ; and a host of nieces and nephews. A family Memorial Service was held November 16, 2006, in Dallas, Texas where he resided. www.cbrownfuneralhome.com
