Kathleen A. Hoppe, age 87, of Sylvania died August 9, 2021 at Kingston Residence of Sylvania. Her declining health had accelerated after she suffered a stroke in April.

Kathy was born on August 8, 1934 in South Bend, IN to John and Agnes (Domnanovich) Billisitz. She attended Our Lady of Hungary School and graduated from South Bend Catholic High School in 1952. Kathy worked as a secretary at the Studebaker Corporation and Associates Investment Company over the next few years while also performing in local musical theater. On May 7, 1960 she married Richard Hoppe at Our Lady of Hungary Church in South Bend.

Kathy and Dick eventually settled in Sylvania Township, and it's where they raised their sons, Matt and Tom, and daughter, Sarah. They were longtime parishioners at Christ the King Catholic Church and they were lifetime members at Sylvania Country Club. Kathy loved to golf, played often, and made three holes-in-one over the years. She and Dick enjoyed spending time in Florida during the winter. She also enjoyed watching Notre Dame football, dining out with friends, feeding the birds, reading, and following politics. She was an excellent cook whose chicken paprikas, stuffed cabbage, and Hungarian goulash were family favorites.

Kathy is survived by her children, Matt (Donna), Tom, and Sarah. She was predeceased by Dick, her husband of 58 years; her parents; and infant son, David.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 13 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 West Sylvania Avenue, Toledo. Visitation will continue at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo on Saturday, August 14 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Kingston Residence of Sylvania, particularly Nicole and Peg. We'd especially like to thank Rachel from Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice for her care and compassion over the past several weeks.
