Kenneth Roush Obituary

ROUSH
Dr. Kenneth Wayne
Obituary for the bestest dad and husband God ever created:
Dr. Kenneth Wayne Roush, 68, of Toledo, died suddenly on Wednesday, February 15, 2017.
Kenneth was born on February 26, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio to Daniel and Gertrude (Wilkins) Roush. He was married to Elinor Clark on August 29, 1970. Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Roush. He is survived by his wife, Elinor Roush; mother, Gertrude Roush; siblings, Norman Roush (Joanna), Donald Roush (Marlise) and Melanie Hartley; children Jeanne-Marie Mayo (John), Elisa Roush and Alec Roush; and grandchildren, Noah, Micah, Lukas, and Kaya.
Dr. Kenneth Roush was a humble leader with great integrity and a gentle show of strength. His life was dedicated to his Heavenly Father, his family and friends, his career, and making this world a better place through his dedication and care for everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Dr. Roush was not just a Cardiologist, he was a true healer. His medical expertise saved thousands of lives, and his selfless care for others touched countless more. Dr. Roush's many loved ones will remember his affection for them, first and foremost, as well as how much he enjoyed the beauty and solace of nature, coffee shops, adventure, travel, and music. He also loved philosophy and the Arts. His colleagues know him as an honest, highly intelligent, witty man who made so many valuable contributions to the medical field, both academically and to their own lives. His many accomplishments were so great. As a soccer coach and mentor, he invested into our future generations. He went on medical missions and touched nations. He contributed to medical journals and was highly esteemed in the medical community. His talks and presentations allowed him to share his extensive knowledge with many, both within the medical community and his church family. He was always there for his family in every aspect of our lives. We lost an incredible man, who was dearly loved and cherished. His love, generosity, and compassion were treasures that cannot be replaced. God took him home suddenly, and he will be missed; however, the imprint that he made on our hearts will always remain.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the South Toledo Campus of CedarCreek Church, 2150 South Byrne Rd., Toledo, OH 43614, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m.

I do hope you´re resting peacefully. You were the one doctor that didn´t just push my symptoms aside. You took months going through journals, book, anything that could point you in the of saving my life. You found that I had an extremely rare disease that could have killed me. I was so sad you went into cardiology, but there you helped me as well. You notice that during a heart scan that the medication they used for it I was having a reaction to, but you seen it just walking by. Your fast reaction helped me, as well as your own patients.
The medical field lost a savior, and Heaven gained a magnificent Angel. R.I.P.

Dr. Roush was always a pleasure to spend Time with. He was witty and intelligent, it always made my day when he would make rounds in Coronary at St. Charles. Even running in to him at our favorite Christmas concert Lori Line was awesome. I will never forget him being his Patient when he did his fellowship at MCO where I had my heart transplant or working with him as a nurse. I am a better person for knowing him.

Ken and I spent the whole summer of 1967 in Little Rock AR selling dictionaries door to door. It created memories and a bond that was easily recreated in words. Other wonderful connecting points were Nyack College and soccer. Wish I could have lived closer to Toledo; instead there was always that ocean. Ellie, though you are suffering a great loss I must congradulate you on having married one of the real saints of this earth. I thank the Lord for the blessing his life was also to me and I thank you for your recognition of the mission of Atlantic Bridge in his memory .

My condolences to the Roush's family. I worked on a committee with Dr. Roush for the past 2 years. In my interaction with him on the unit and in the committee meetings, found him to be one of the most gracious person I have ever met. He was always willing to share his vast knowledge with all and was also a great listener. I will certainly miss his kind demeanor and his extra special gift of letting others feel valued.

Dear Elinor and family,
I'm not sure if I'll make it to service due to my Mom in TTH. I want to be sure and send my love and sincere condolences to all of your family . Your husband/dad was absolutely the bestest Doctor too! He was always kind, approachable, never condescending, always willing to take time to answer questions. Good with a laugh, and obviously loved his family! Any of us who were privileged to know and work with him were truly blessed to have him touch our lives! Know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers as Dr Ken is now gaining his eternal reward in heaven and that he will always be right there watching over all of you!❤ Much love,

My condolences to the Roush family. I have been in the healthcare field for 20 yrs, and when I was a new grad, I worked often with Dr.Roush at Toledo hospital. ANYTIME you had a question or concern, he would stop whatever he was doing, turn and look you right in the eyes and listen to what you had to say. He was a very intelligent man who showed true concern for the people he dealt with, at every level, every single day. He was also a genuinely nice and kind individual, which went a long way with his patients, hospital staff, and everyone he came in to contact with. He will be missed.

Dr Roush was such a awsome man, I met him at MCO in 1990 when I had my heart transplant. Later I worked with him at St. Charles CCU. He would point to my neck where I had many heart biopsies and say the mark of Ken. I have a lot of respect and love for Dr. Roush and he will be missed. My condolences to the family.

I think I can safely speak for all of the nurses in the ICU at St Charles hospital that when Dr. Roush made rounds we were all in for a treat. He treated his patients with such kindness and compassion and was always available to answer our questions with humor and grace. We have lost a good one.

Dr Roush was an awesome man and doctor. He was eager to teach cardiology during his rounding at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. And was well respected by all of us. He will be missed but has put a mark on my heart for him being him.

Dr. Roush was one of the smartest and nicest physicians I ever worked with. He had a wonderful sense of humor and compassionate touch that made his patients love him, and he was such a great teacher about all things cardiac. I am very sorry for your loss, and wanted to share with you that not only did all the nursing staff at St. Luke's respect him, we all genuinely liked him. He was a wonderful human being.

Dr. Roush was a gentle and kind spirit. I worked with him while I was at St. Luke's Hospital. His patients were touched by his genuine caring for them.

His death is a loss to family, friends and humanity. His teachings will live for infinity as we all share the knowledge he shared with us. He turned complex to simple and understandable for all members of the healthcare community. There will never be another like him. Ever. He was ALWAYS approachable, non-arrogant and non- condescending. HE understood people. That is why people loved him. He always watched over everyone. I pray he still watches over us all and guides us from Gods kingdom. He is imprinted on us. May we learn from his example and be better people because of it. He is etched in our memory for ever. God bless and look over his entire family. With loving thoughts, sincerely Sheila Olson

Dear Roush Family,
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I will always remember Dr. Roush as a kind, loving, and Godly man. I'm glad to have had memories of him assisting in coaching our tennis team practice sometimes, teaching Sunday school, and enjoying an ice cream cone with him, Elisa, and Noah in the small town near Beulah Beach. My heart is filled with sadness for all of you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
