Ronald “Ron” Sommer, age 82, of Woodville, OH passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, OH. He was born on November 19, 1934 in Oregon, Missouri to Milton and Frances (Fuhrman) Sommer. On November 4, 1961 he married Brenda Kay Potts in Woodville and she survives. For over 34 years Ron worked at Sun Oil Company, Oregon, OH in the accounting and audit departments as a manager and retired in 1991. He was a member of Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his yard and flower gardens. Above all else spending time with his family especially his grandchildren was the most important to him. Ron served his country proudly while enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda; daughter, Julie (Rick) Shaffer of Woodville; son, Mark (JoDel) Sommer of Magnolia, TX; grandchildren, Eric (Courtney) Sidle, Rachel
(Everett Manson) Sidle, Sarah Sommer, Stephanie Sommer and Marci Sommer; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Emmerson Sidle; brother, Jerry (Helen) Sommer of Niceville, FL; and sister,
Janet (Shali) Shalikashvili of Martinez, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 5, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Home, 201 W. Main Street, Woodville, OH. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville with additional visitation from 10 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be in Westwood Cemetery, Woodville. A bereavement luncheon will be served at the church immediately following the cemetery committal services.
