Satish SETH Obituary

SETH Satish K. Satish Kumar Seth, M.D. passed away on Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Parkcliffe Care Center. He was born on January 15, 1938 in Amritsar, District Punjab, India and lived most of his childhood in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. He came to the United States as a student, having a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Science, in 1960. He studied at Howard University, Washington, D.C. earning a Master's Degree in Chemistry in 1965, a PhD in Biochemistry in 1967 and a Doctorate in Medicine in 1970. He became a U.S. citizen in 1968, he served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1973 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Major. He was Board Certified in Family Practice, Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine and spent his entire career working in Emergency Medicine and officially retiring in 2005. He married Ann Steckbeck on September 6, 1965 (Labor Day) and was the proud father of Vijay Anthony and Anita Seth Toska (James) and very proud grandfather of Seth Matthew, Dylan James and Lilyann Mary Toska. His extended American family included his sister-in-law, Mary McClain of Tennessee and Agnes and William Dohner of Lebanon, PA and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Biharilal and Kaushalya Seth, his older step-brother, Tilak Raj Seth and his wife Kastura, his brother-in-law, Raj Mehra, his youngest brother Inderpal Seth, his brother-in-law, Phillip McClain and his in-laws, Phillip Steckbeck and Mary Steckbeck Soliday. He is survived by his older sister, Urmilla, a younger brother Raj Kumar (Vijay Rani), his sister-in-law, Rita and many nieces and nephews in India and Canada. His family wishes to extend their thanks and gratitude to the entire staff at Parkcliffe for the wonderful care he received. We are grateful to the Physicians and Staff at the various facilities that he received care at for the last four months and we are extremely grateful to the staff at Heartland Hospice for their loving and supportive care of our beloved Satish. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Monday, September 13, 2010, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. Interment will be private. Our family and friends are invited to attend a gathering following the service to celebrate Satish's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Heartland Hospice, Camp Courageous, the Arc of Lucas County, Lucas County Special Olympics or the Sunshine Children's Home.
