Richard Malone Obituary

Richard Edward Malone, 90, of Plum, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 7, 2022. He was born on Aug. 2, 1931, in Plum Borough to the late Elmer and Sarah (Shirley) Malone. His father and grandfather were farmers and coal miners. His best friend was his older brother, Herbert Malone. Richard believed that if you want something done right you should do it yourself. He was a hunter, amateur photographer, faithful worshiper of God, a hard worker and an excellent provider. Richard married Dolores "Dee" (Righi) Malone on May14,1949 while serving in the Army during the Korean War as a drill sergeant. Richard and Dee had two daughters Marlene and Elaine. He was employed with Bessemer and Lake Erie R.R., Eljier Plumbing Co., H. J. Heinz Co., Seasonal Window Manufacturing and Winchester Industries. He was a diligent worker and enjoyed providing for his family. He was a member of Plum Creek Presbyterian Church and later was a member of First Reformed Presbyterian Church in Penn Hills. Most important to him were faith and family. In addition to Dee, his wife of nearly 73 years, he is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene (Bob) Agate and Elaine (Jim) Gaston; and nine grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert, and his half-brother, Edward Malone. Friends were received at MAURICE L. KNEE LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Road (across from S & T Bank) Plum, PA 15239, where a funeral service was held on Saturday. Interment with Army funeral honors followed at Plum Creek Cemetery. If desired and in lieu of flowers the Malone family suggests memorials to First Reformed Presbyterian Church, 12900 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills, PA 15235 (frpc.org) or to Plum Creek Masonic Lodge No. 799, 9521 Saltsburg Road, Plum, PA 15239.
