Gilbert Zaronsky Obituary

Gilbert A. "Gib" Zaronsky, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at his home. Mr. Zaronsky was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Joseph and Violet Shaw Zaronsky. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Gib graduated from the former Ramsay High School with the class of 1937. He worked as a custodian for the Mt. Pleasant Area School District, where he retired from with more than 25 years of service. Gib loved being with his family. He enjoyed their trips to Wildwood, Lancaster, and to Chicago to visit his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He looked forward to going out to lunch and bowling with his granddaughter, Dianna, on Saturdays. Gib was a fabulous story teller and historian. He loved sharing memories of his childhood, his job and his life with his family and his many friends. Gib loved being around animals and he especially loved the three family dogs, Mick, Muffin, and Melody. He lived at home with his family and was always grateful and appreciative of the wonderful care given to him; by his daughter, whom he lovingly called "Bug-Bug," and by his son-in-law, Tom, whom Gib always referred to as "my son." Everyone who knew Pap loved and respected him. He was a kind, gentle and honest man. A true gentleman. His family was truly blessed for having him in their lives. Gib will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his loving family; his daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Stepansky and her husband, Tom, of Mt. Pleasant; his grandchildren, Denise Hare and her husband, Lee, of Morris, Ill., and Dianna Stepansky, of Mt. Pleasant; and by his great-granddaughters, Ashlee and Kaylee Hare. In addition to his parents, Gib was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Fiesta Zaronsky; his brothers, Paul, Wayne, Ira, Lloyd, Clare, Oran, Lial, Harold and Glenn Zaronsky; and by his sisters, Hazel McAnanny and Elizabeth Grace. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home followed by his funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday and the St. Pius X. Holy Name Society will conduct services at 6:30 p.m.
