Laurence J. O'Loughlin D.M.D.

Laurence J. O'Loughlin, D.M.D., 78, of Sewickley, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maureen; daughter, Jennifer O'Loughlin; son, Timothy (Samantha) O'Loughlin; and grandson, Nolan Laurence O'Loughlin. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, he completed studies in Graduate Prosthodontics, was a member of the faculty and a longtime private practice in Sewickley. As a Pitt undergrad, he was awarded a varsity letter for his performance in intercollegiate tennis and squash. During dental school and beyond, he was a nationally ranked squash player with the United States Squash Racquets Association and Pittsburgh City Squash Champion for 14 consecutive years. In 1973, he was inducted into the Western Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He served on Sewickley Borough Council for eight years, three years as president of council, was a member of St. James Choir where he shared his love of music with his daughter, and an avid golfer who enjoyed annual trips to Myrtle Beach with his son. He was a beloved husband and father who will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at R.D. COPELAND FUNERAL HOME, Irvine Chapel, Sewickley. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Divine Redeemer Parish, St. James Church, 200 Walnut St., Sewickley followed by interment in St. James Cemetery, Sewickley.
