Thomas Soforic Obituary

Thomas Joseph "Tom" Soforic, 53, of Pittsburgh, originally from Scottdale, passed away Saturday afternoon, Feb. 26, 2022, in UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township, surrounded by his loved ones after losing his battle with Covid-Pneumonia. He was born May 1, 1968, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Thomas and Emily Lesniowski Soforic. Tom was a graduate of Geibel Catholic High School, Connellsville, Class of 1986, and a University of Pittsburgh alumnus. After finishing school, he worked in the IT industry for many years, which he enjoyed. He then pursued his lifelong passion for building and creating by establishing his own remodeling business. Tom had a fascination with planes and flying and had his pilot's license in his younger years. He also enjoyed traveling, sailing, gatherings with family and friends and was a proud "Parrothead." Tom will be treasured forever for his heart of gold, quick wit, wealth of knowledge and big personality. He was someone who always put others' needs before his own. His smile and laughter, which made the world a better place, will truly be missed. He is survived by his siblings, Vanessa Soforic Johnston and late husband, Mark Johnston, of Scottdale, Roger and his wife, Renae Soforic, of Connellsville, and Keith Soforic, of Tampa, Fla.; and his wonderful nieces and nephews, Taylor, Nichole, Justin and Derek Soforic and Cameron and Caileigh Johnston, all of whom held a special place in his heart and was a major part of his life. He will be missed by his good friend, Anita Domalik, and several loving pets. The family would like to thank the staff of UPMC Passavant - McCandless who went above and beyond in the care and compassion they showed Tom and his family during this difficult time. Tom's family cordially invites friends and family from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, PA 15683.
