Charles Thayer Obituary

Charles E. Thayer Sr., 73, of Forward Township, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was the retired owner of Quality Sharpening and Machine Repair in Forward Township and belonged to several woodcarving clubs. Born April 19, 1940, in Monongahela, he was a son of the late Lewis and Mary Anna (Opfar) Thayer. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maxine (Trumpe) Thayer; daughter, Diana Lynn Beegle, of Elizabeth; son, Charles E. Thayer Jr., of Forward Township; granddaughter, Savannah Beegle, of Elizabeth; sisters, Irene Kress, of Warther, and Mary Dyer, of Versailles; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sons, David L. and Lewis E. Thayer; and siblings, Ethel Leone White, David Opfar and Carl, Louis, Norman, Harold and William Thayer. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in the PAUL E. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, Elizabeth. A service will take place at noon Thursday, April 25, 2013, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Pipp officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township. Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation of W PA, 700 Fifth Ave., Fourth Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Offer condolences at http://www.bekavacfuneralhome.com.
