John Figel Obituary

John Edward Figel, 84, of Monroeville, died Friday, May 16, 2014, at The Cedars of Monroeville. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Katchur) Figel for 62 years; loving father of John "Jack" Figel, of Fairfax, Va., Judi Figel, of Monroeville, and Joyce (Robert) Sabo, of Baldwin; adored grandfather of Katie and John Sabo; brother-in-law of Marge and John Lubinski; and is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. John was a Korean War veteran, having served with the Army, and was a respected architect who contributed significantly to the well-known building landscape of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY INC., corner of (118) Shaw and Triboro avenues, Turtle Creek, 412-823-1950. The Byzantine Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy will be held 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Chrysostom Byzantine Catholic Church, 621 Saline St., Greenfield. Everyone please go to the church. Interment with full military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. http://www.jobefuneralhome.com.
