A. Hartle Obituary

A. Paul Hartle, 96, a lifelong resident of Sewickley passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 at his home. Born Aug. 12, 1914, in Sewickley, he was the son of Francis Powell and Elizabeth (Clifford) Hartle. Mr. Hartle was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign War, American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He served in World War II where he held position of technical sergeant, 5th ordinance company/10th mountain infantry. His medals include: Good Conduct, American Defense Medal, European African Middle Eastern service medal with one Silver Star. Served four years in the Army, where he served under General George S. Patton. Mr. Hartle is retired from J&L Steel where he was a pipe inspector and Allegheny County road maintenance specialist. Mr. Hartle was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church, in Glenfield, where he was baptized. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Helen (Moder) Hartle, of Sewickley; his loving children, Paul Hartle and wife, Susan, of Plano, Texas, Frank J. Hartle and wife, Alma, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisc., and Teresa Ann Hartle, of Sewickley; loving grandfather to five grandchildren, Dan, Andrew Samantha, Chelsea and Travis; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Seth and Fay Alivia; brother of Pat (Virgnia) Poss and the late Joe, Jack, Frank, Betty, Sis and Clifford "Bud". Visitation and prayer services were held at Copeland's Sewickley, 702 Beaver St., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church in Glenfield. Burial was in St. James Cemetery.
