Andrew Durand

1934 - 2020

Andrew "Andy" Durand, 85, of Butler, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at his home. Born Dec. 10, 1934, in Creighton, he was the son of John Durand and Stella Bowser Durand. He worked as an electrician for Westinghouse, retiring after 36 years. Andy served in the Navy during Korea. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, the IBEW, the Saxonburg American Legion Post 683, the Knights of Columbus the R.C. Men's Club and was also a Mason. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Bernice Meso Durand, whom he married Sept. 14, 1957, his son, Andrew "Buddy" (Dawn) Durand, of Butler, three daughters, Denise (Tom) Mikolay, of Brunswick, Ohio, Karen (Lee) Woodard, of Imperial, and Kelly (John) Goettler, of Butler, his brother, Bob (Joann) Durand, of Saxonburg, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at the Greenlawn Burial Estates, with Father Ward Stakem officiating.
