August Heining Obituary

August C. "Gus" Heining Jr., 79, of Latrobe, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born July 11, 1938, in Uniontown, a son of the late August C. Heining Sr. and Nora Conn Heining. Prior to his retirement, Gus was employed by Torrance State Hospital in Blairsville for 31 years, where he served as a psychiatric aide. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the Air Force, and was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Latrobe. He is survived by his loving wife, Alzene Long Heining; his children, Sherry Heining, and Michael Heining and wife Diane, all of Latrobe; grandchildren, Ashley Batsa and husband Stevie, Nicholas Heining and Alyssa Heining; a sister, Mary Jane Bell, of Somerset; his best friend, Andy Majorsky, of Derry; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, respiratory and staff at Excela Health Latrobe Area Hospital, Arnold Palmer Cancer Center and Excela Health Hospice for their care and kindness during this difficult time.
As per Gus's wishes, there will be no public visitation. Funeral services and interment in Unity Cemetery were private. HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC. in Latrobe has been entrusted with the arrangements.

l am so fortunate to have known this wonderful man. We worked together for many years. He was respected by his coworkers and patients alike. If you looked up "gentleman" in the dictionary you should see A photo of Gus.
