Dale H. Richards

1931 - 2016

Dale Herbert Richards, 84, of Latrobe, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born May 27, 1931, in Kingston, Derry Township, a son of the late Thomas F. and Harriett (Burd) Richards. Prior to retirement, Dale was employed by the former Latrobe Die Casting Co. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the Army. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 267 in Ligonier, the VFW Paul Lizza Post 3414 in Latrobe, F&AM Loyalhanna Lodge No. 275 in Latrobe, the Ligonier Valley Railroad Association and was a charter member of the Kingston Veterans and Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed hunting and was a railroad enthusiast. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas, Armstrong, Paul and James Richards. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Nancy M. (Eby) Richards; three sons, Jeffrey L. Richards and his wife, Jean, David W. Richards and his wife, Laurie, and Brian Dale Richards and his wife, Donna, all of Latrobe; seven grandchildren, Molly, Katie, Matthew, Kari, Ariana, Taylor and Brandon Richards; a brother, Donald "Doc" Richards, of Blairsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., in Latrobe. Members of F&AM Loyalhanna Lodge No. 275 will hold Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Bethany United Methodist Church, 2415 Laveen St., in Latrobe, with his pastor, the Rev. Jonathan Fehl officiating. Interment with full military honors by VFW Post 33 Honor Guard will follow in Unity Cemetery.
