Floyd Flack Obituary

Floyd C. Flack, 85, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, in Edgewood Nursing Center, Youngstown, Pa. He was born March 8, 1918, in Pitcairn, a son of the late Elmer T. and Mary (Sutch) Flack. Floyd was employed by Latrobe Borough as a firetruck driver, retiring in April 1981, after 14 years of service. He was a member of Latrobe United Methodist Church and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps prior to World War II. An avid sports fan, he especially loved golfing and camping in early retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Delbert Halferty; a sister, Elizabeth Barnhart; and three brothers, George, James and Henry Flack. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Edna (Widuckle) Flack; three daughters, Twila Schmidt and husband, James, of Norvelt, Florence Halferty and husband, Lee, of Derry, and Edna "Toots" Stiffey, of Latrobe; a son, Floyd "Skip" Flack Jr. and wife, Kay, of Latrobe; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Wainwright, of Blairsville, Ella Fodiak and Janet Ridge, both of Latrobe; three brothers, Forrest Flack, of Latrobe, Charles Flack and wife, Ruth, of Florida, and David Flack, of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. William D. Schmeling officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. The Latrobe Fire Department will hold services Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
