Rachel Oplinger Obituary

Rachel M. Oplinger, 81, of Harrison City, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, in her home. She was born Jan. 7, 1930, in McCullough, a daughter of the late Jacob and Bessie (Lauffer) Wallace. She loved to bowl and was active in the Dinner Bells and the Jolly Ten bowling leagues for more than 35 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth P. Oplinger, in 1998; and a granddaughter, Vicki Ceresa Heasley; five brothers, Ramsey, Henry, Russell, Michael and Jacob Wallace; and a sister, Emma Scott. She is survived by three daughters, Margaret Ellen VanDyke and husband, Raymond, of Latrobe, Lydia Irene Wilson and husband, Charles, of Jeannette, and Cindy Lynn Egnatz, of Harrison City; five grandchildren, Anthony Ceresa and wife, Dayna, Cathy Wanichko and husband, Ryan, Amy Bennett and husband, Rodney, Steven Wilson and wife, Lenni, and Rebecca Egnatz and husband, Dustin; six great-grandchildren, Chad, Peyton, Todd, Brian, Aurora and Austin; a great-great-grandson, Sylas; two brothers, Joseph Wallace, of Ohio, and David Wallace, of Youngwood; two sisters, Ellen Hapchuk, of Greensburg, and Sarah Oplinger, of Texas; and her loyal pups, Luke and Odie. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Jeannette Memorial Park, Penn Township. The family would like to thank the Arnold Palmer Cancer Pavilion and Heartland Hospice for the loving care and support for Rachel.
