Robert H. Greer

Robert H. Greer, 80, of Monroeville, peacefully passed away at home Wednesday Feb. 15, 2017, surrounded by family, after a brave fight against cancer. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 52 years, Ruth Ann (Schneider) Greer. He was the beloved father of Barb (Rich) Kappel, of Greensburg, Julie (Brian) Duez, of Monroeville, and Tim (Allison) Greer, of Schuylerville, NY.; loving Pap of Kory, Josh, Leah, and Jeremy Kappel, Tony, Alex, and Kelly Duez; and great-grandfather to Theodore Duez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Moses and Jane Greer, and siblings, William Greer, Euphemia Rau, Naomi Sutyak, Olive Greer, Mary Jane Brown, James Greer and Boyd Greer. He worked as a research glassblower for 49 years, retiring with University of Pittsburgh. He used his God-given gift to continue in his glass blowing, making artistic Christmas ornaments. Bob also loved the outdoors, and you could always find him working in his garden, and he enjoyed taking walks. He served his country honorably in the Navy. He loved his church family, and faithfully attended for more than 50 years at Calvary Lutheran Church. Bob always had a story to tell you and brought a smile to everyone he knew.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the GENE H. CORL INC. FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (412-372-2100). A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 4725 Old William Penn Highway, Murrysville (everyone please meet at the church). Interment to follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park.
