Robert Kontor Obituary

Robert R. Kontor, 81, of Ligonier, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, in Edgewood Nursing Center, Youngstown. He was born June 29, 1920, in Hempfield Township, a son of the late John and Stefania Voytek Kontor. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a machinist for Vulcan Mold of Latrobe. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 515 of Latrobe, the Waterford Sportsmen and he was active in the Cooperstown Veterans Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Campbell Kontor, on May 1, 1997; four brothers, John, Edward, Phil and Joe; two sisters, Verna and Helen; and a great-grandson, Kyle Baldwin. He is survived by two daughters, Janet Chaybin and her husband, William, of Latrobe and Brenda Castellanos of Ligonier; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Kubish of Greensburg, Stella Shinsky and Rose Krempansky of Youngstown and Julia Borza of Latrobe; and a brother, Carl Kontor of Latrobe. There will be no visitation. Interment will be private. The family suggests memorials to the National Diabetes Association, Western Pa. Division, 300 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 700, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. Arrangements by the SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC. & CREMATORY, Bell and East Church streets, Ligonier. Elizabeth Snyder Bloom, funeral director.
