Wayne M. McMaster, 89, of Ligonier, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at his home. He was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Fairfield Township, a son of the late Mohney and Belle Muir McMaster. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a carpenter. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Byers-Tosh American Legion Post 267. He was a life member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association, honorary member of the Ligonier Volunteer Hose Company No. 1 (Waterford) and the Ligonier Township Sportsmen's Club. He was a man dedicated to serving his God and his church. As a member of Waterford United Methodist Church, he served as past lay leader, Sunday school teacher, chairman of the administrative board, chairman of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, chairman of the parsonage trustees, youth director and supervisor of the Sunday school building addition. He enjoyed working in his garden and flowerbeds. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and loved his dogs. In his earlier days he was a well-known stock car racer on numerous area race tracks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Riffle McMaster, in 2003; three brothers, Edgar, James and Robert McMaster; and five sisters, Iva Lynn, Jane Crowe, Catherine McMaster, Alberta Ritenour and Ellen Sechrist. Wayne is survived by three children, Susan (Louis) Marinos, of Belle Vernon, Larry D. (Deidre) McMaster, of Wilpen, and Robert (Anne) McMaster, of Finleyville; four grandchildren, Daren (Gary) Rhoades, Louis (Diane) Marinos, and Alyssa and Alex Robinson; five great-grandchildren, Louis Jr., Jessica and Alan Marinos, and Anna and Gracie Rhoades; a sister, Lois Ritenour, of Derry; and a brother, Earl (Clara) McMaster, of Ligonier. There will be no public viewing. A service to celebrate Wayne's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Waterford United Methodist Church with his pastor, Fred Zickefoose, officiating. The Ligonier Township Hose Company No. 1 will hold services at 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the church, followed by the Ligonier Valley Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery. The J.
