Aldine E. Young

1922 - 2015

Aldine Estella (Grinder) Young, 92, of Parks Township, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, in Good Samaritan Hospice Cabot Inpatient Unit at Concordia, Jefferson Township. Born Dec.26, 1922, in Arnold, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ida (Speer) Grinder. She was a homemaker, a member of the Pleasant View Brethren Church, Kepple Hill, Parks Township, and a member of the Women's Missionary Society of Pleasant View Brethren Church, Parks Township, the Laurel Point Grange, Parks Township, the Armstrong County League of Arts, Slate Lick, and the Dime Area Senior Citizens, Parks Township. Aldine enjoyed crocheting, reading and doing crafts. Survivors include a son, Andrew C. Young (Susan), of Parks Township; a daughter, Darlene R. Shaffer (Charles), of Conway; eight grandchildren, Laura Mullen, Douglas Shaffer, Julia Chilton, Bruce Young, Samantha Jones, Heather Waugaman, Traci Doland and Tricia Rearick; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd L. Young Sr., on Oct. 21, 1991; a son, Floyd L. "Butch" Young Jr.; a daughter, Judy M. McLaughlin; two sisters, Emma Jane Richard and Ida Marie Grinder; and two stepbrothers, Howard Young and the Rev. John T. Young. Friends welcomed by her family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at CLAWSON FUNERAL and CREMATION CENTER, 170 Main St., Leechburg (724-842-1051) where funeral ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with her pastor, the Rev. Todd Ruggles, officiating. Interment following at Evergreen Cemetery, 620 Evergreen Road, Gilpin Township.
