Donald Harmon Obituary

Donald James "Jim" Harmon, 87, of Saxonburg, formerly of Freeport, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg. He was born Oct. 23, 1925, in Bradford, Ohio, the son of the late Goldie (Boyer) and Roy C. Harmon. Jim was the widower of Anna Marie (Matthews) Harmon, who passed away in 2002, after 51 years of marriage. He served in the Navy during World War II. Jim was the head of maintenance at Freeport Community Park and Buffalo Valley Golf Course in Freeport for many years, retiring in 1993. He attended the Allegheny Valley Church of Christ in Lower Burrell. Jim enjoyed golfing, traveling, playing video games and spending time with his family. He is survived by his two sons, Robert L. (Barbara) Harmon Sr., of McDonald, and Donald K. Harmon, of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Simmons, of Bradenton, Fla., and Pat Jenkins, of Medina, Ohio; and his brother, Roy Harmon, of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Clifford and John Harmon. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 6, 2013, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Freeport Cemetery, Freeport.
