Gerald Houser Obituary

Gerald E. "Eddie" Houser Sr., 81, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 26, 2023. He was born Nov. 25, 1941, in New Kensington, to the late Rev. George Houser Sr. and Katie Mae Stoudemire Houser, and was a longtime resident of the city. Mr. Houser was an Army veteran, serving four years between the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He worked on the railroad at Allegheny Ludlum, Brackenridge, and was later a grinder there for 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the IBPOE of New Kensington, the Arnold No. 2 Fire Hall and the American Legion. He loved cars and especially enjoyed keeping his own cars perfectly clean. He was always happy and had a laugh known by the family as the "Houser Infectious Laugh." Survivors include his wife, Linda R. Thrower; nine children, Kevin (Stephanie) Houser, Zachary Houser, Khemblin Houser, Edrick Houser Sr., Jeffery (deceased wife Tracy) Houser, Gloria (Howard) Houser-Lee, Gerald E. Houser Jr., Jody (Jenny) White and Whitney Houser; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Houser, in infancy. His 13 siblings, George Jr., Clarence, John, Robert, James, Howard, Thomas, William, Grady, Ruby Lee, Mary, Alma and Birdalee, also preceded him in death. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until a celebration of life service at noon Saturday, April 1, 2023, in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Burial with military rights accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.

Mr. Houser "Eddie" Always had a hug and a smile for me. He was so funny and so kind. I am Better to have known him. We always laughed and had a good time when we visited. RIP My friend.
