John Jankowski Obituary

John S. Jankowski Jr., 47, of Tarentum, died at 11:30 p.m. Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) in UPMC St. Margaret, Pittsburgh.

Born March 30, 1955, in Harrison, he lived in Tarentum his entire life. He was a 1973 graduate of Highlands High School. For 20 years he worked for the Tarentum Borough Street Department. He also was a bus driver, working 15 years for the Roenigk Bus Co., Sarver. Mr. Jankowski was a member of Holy Martyrs Parish, Sacred Heart-St. Peter Worship Site, Tarentum, and Highland Hose Company of Tarentum. A model train collector, he also enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Deborah J. Shondeck Jankowski; a son, Evan M. Jankowski; and a daughter, Elyssa M. Jankowski, both at home; his parents, John S. Sr. and Mary Ann Joyce Jankowski of Tarentum; three brothers, Robert Jankowski and Raymond Jankowski, both of Tarentum, and Daniel (Jerrilynne) Jankowski of Fawn; and a sister, Mrs. Maureen (John "Jack") King of Plum. Also surviving is family friend, Linda Romanelli of Tarentum. Relatives and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., Tenth Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart-St. Peter Worship Site, Tarentum, with his pastor, the Rev. Robert M. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Highland Hose Co. will meet at 7 p.m. Monday for services in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Holy Martyrs Parish, Tarentum.
