John McCurdy Obituary

John S. McCurdy Sr., 64, of Culmerville, West Deer Township, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at UPMC St. Margaret, Pittsburgh, with his family by his side. He was born Nov. 16, 1956, in Harrison Township, to the late Alvin A. and Virginia C. (Battrell) McCurdy Sr. John grew up and had lived in West Deer most of his life. He worked as a truck driver for many years at Three Rivers Trucking. He was a quiet and good-hearted guy who would help anyone for nothing in return. John was a regular member of the Owls Club in Russellton, the Outdoor Life Lodge in Fawn, and a social member of the Krivan Club in Springdale, and the Tarentum Eagles. He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his grandson. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Joyce A. (Palmer) McCurdy; his sons, George (Hope) Palmer and John (Ashley) McCurdy, both of Russellton; his grandchildren, Logan McCurdy, Hannah Davis and Jimmy Davis; his brothers, Alvin McCurdy Jr., of New Kensington, and William (Dawn) McCurdy, of Springdale; sisters, Virginia (Don) Augustine, of West Deer, and Matilda Lakshmanan, of New Kensington; beloved mother-in-law, Virginia Palmer, of Russellton; his aunt, Arlene Palmer, of Russellton; and several nieces and nephews. At John's request, all viewing, services and burial were private. Arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
