Richard Sobecki Obituary

Richard F. Sobecki, 79, of Cheswick, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, in Harmar Village Care Center, Cheswick. Born April 2, 1927, in New Kensington, to the late Stanley and Stanaslava Sobecki. Mr. Sobecki worked for 40 years as an inspector for PPG, Creighton, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed gardening, watching football, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Debra (Dr. Jigar) Shaw, of Vienna, Va., and Donna Kalinosky, of Cheswick; three grandchildren, Derek and Allison Kalinosky and Tayjes Shaw; a sister-in-law, Jennie Sobecki, of New Kensington; three nephews, Matthew (Kathy) Sobecki, Dennis (Barb) Sobecki and Richard (Patricia) Marciniak; four nieces, Pam (Lou) Naviglia, Melissa (Russell) Koval-Smith, Jean Szarnicki and Dolores Waner; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence R. Bahler Sobecki, in 1997; five brothers and sisters; and a nephew, Mark S. Sobecki. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., family owned and operated for 60 years, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington (724-335-1234), where a funeral outside of Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday.
