EVELYN STUDHOLME

Evelyn Inez Studholme Evelyn Studholme passed away peacefully January 30, 2012. Born to Danish immigrants Asta and George Thode in Winona, Minnesota on September 14, 1916, Evelyn moved to Tacoma as a young girl. She graduated from Lincoln HS in 1934 and went on to become the manager of the Little Paris Beauty Salon in South Tacoma. Evelyn married Clifford Studholme in 1942, and spent many years enjoying the life and travels of an officer's wife. Evelyn became the mother of three children and was very involved in all their activities. She was a Girl Scout leader extraordinaire, a Cub Scout pack leader, helped to found a chapter of Girls Friendly Society at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, and, along with her husband, coached many little league softball teams. She also was active in St. Mary's Guild, the St. Andrew's Young-at-Heart dance club, and a local garden club for many years. She was an expert seamstress and excelled at all types of handmade crafts. As her children grew older she returned to work at Tacoma City Light before moving to Connecticut where Cliff spent his last few working years. She and Cliff traveled extensively and made many new friends in the New England years. She was also commended for her work in Connecticut at the Courtland Gardens nursing home. Retirement brought Evelyn and Cliff back to Tacoma and their growing family. Evelyn continued to be active in Panarama Garden Club, St. Mary's Guild, and spent many an afternoon with her bridge group. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her later life and the yearly trek to Cannon Beach was a highlight in all of their lives. Evelyn is survived by her children Lynne (Mike) Malecki, Craig, and Brenda (Robert) LeClerc; her grandchildren Molly (David) Malecki, Mandi (Sean) Malecki, Megan (Kale) Kramer, Somer (Billy) Studholme, Brett Studholme, Lindley and Natalie LeClerc; and her great-grandchildren Paz and Scout Fenton. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Marion and Ruth, and her husband of 65 years, Clifford. There will be no public service and the family would like to request memorial donations to a favorite charity. Evelyn lived a long and full life, and as the matriarch of the family will be greatly missed.
