Tacoma, Washington - John A Holroyd (Jack) passed quietly away March 21, 2022. He was 91.
Jack was born and raised in Tacoma, attended Clover Park High School - where he met his beloved wife, Jeanne. He graduated from Washington State University in 1952, and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha.
Jack and Jeanne wed June 7, 1952 and their nearly 70 years of marriage was an extraordinary example of true love.
Jack served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force. Upon returning to Tacoma he began his career at The Holroyd Company, established by his Grandfather in 1906. He was a respected businessman and pivotal in growing the company from 1956 to 1989.
He was a horseman, skier, boater, car enthusiast and great friend to many. Jack was active in AGC, Kiwanis, Tacoma Outboard Association, Tacoma Country and Golf Club and The Puyallup Wranglers. Riding his horse down Main Street in the opening parade for the Puyallup Fair at 78 years old, with that big "Kirby grin" was a highlight!
Most importantly, he was a family man, and his absolute greatest joy was when we were all together , which was often. Times at Mason Lake, Cannon Beach, The San Juans, Sun Valley, Palm Springs, Napa Valley, Crystal Mountain and their apple orchard in Cowiche, were his favorites.
Jack is survived by his precious wife, Jeanne, daughter, Sheri Bertolin (Mark), granddaughter, Ashley Brynn (Joseph Wilson), grandson Bryce (Madison), great-granddaughter, Hallie Ann, sister-in-law, Cynthia Holroyd, and several nieces and nephews and their families.
We will miss you, dearly! We will be forever grateful of your wisdom, inspiration, generosity and spirit. We will celebrate your love and legacy everyday.
Memorials may be made to The Weatherly Inn or Carol Milgard Breast Center. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
